Mono Gateway updates
A stand-in OPNsense update server for the Mono Gateway while Mono's own server is down. (opnsense.mono.si)
Unofficial and temporary. Run by the community, not by Mono. Switch back to Mono's server when it returns (step 4).
How to use it
- Save your config first: System › Configuration › Backups › Download configuration.
- Log in to the router as root and open the OPNsense shell: over SSH, or on the console choose option 8 (Shell) from the OPNsense menu. This is the normal OPNsense command prompt, ending in
:~ #(for exampleroot@OPNsense:~ #), not the U-Boot=>prompt or Recovery Linux. Then download the scripts:cd /root fetch https://mono-opnsense.sincevic20.com/use-temp-updates.sh fetch https://mono-opnsense.sincevic20.com/use-official-updates.sh fetch https://mono-opnsense.sincevic20.com/repair-kernel.sh
- Point the router at this server:
Then update as normal: System › Firmware › Updates, Check for updates, Update. The router reboots by itself and keeps the previous kernel as a fallback.
sh use-temp-updates.sh
- When Mono's server is back, switch back:
sh /root/use-official-updates.sh
If the router misbehaves after an update: sh /root/repair-kernel.sh rollback, then reboot. If it won't boot, re-flash with an image from images/ and restore your saved config.
